Palin Highlights Drilling in Acceptance Speech

Sep. 03, 2008

Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin highlighted her plans to drill more oil domestically in her acceptance speech to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis Wednesday night.

Palin, Governor of Alaska, focused on additional domestic oil production as the best way to keep the country from "the mercy of foreign suppliers." She stated that as an Alaska native, she could attest that the country has "lots of both."

Palin indicated plans to "lay more pipeline," process additional clean coal, and to research solar, wind and geothermal projects.

No mention was made of biofuels.

Energy was the first substantive issue Palin tackled in her forty-minute-long acceptance speech, which was cheered wildly by the Republican crowds.
