Bless you and the other guys for all you're doing for our planet. It's about time we all started thinking about what we've done to our home and what we can do to make it better. Maybe there's no way to entirely reverse the damage that's been done over the years, but at least we can do all we can not to make it worse! Everytime I hear how you guys are helping people (and believe me, this is helping a lot of people!), it makes me ever more proud to be a STYX fan! Keep on rockin'!

Love,
~ Ciana

I agree it wasn't that long ago that going
"green" meant something totally different. However, it is cool we realize together that we can make a difference.
God Bless

Hey Tommy, Good to see an old Prattville boy going green. I live in San Antonio, TX and with the help of the city sanation department we recycle 2/3 of the garbadge we bring home. It is truly amazing how much garbage is recycle-able. Hope to see you soon in San Antonio. I still remember you banging your first set of drums on Christmas Day.

Impressive! I'm thrilled to hear and see those in a position to have an influance on many put forth the effort!!

We just enjoyed the show in Jax, FL! It was the first time I had been in the Florida Theater and was quite pleased with the sound, as I was up in the balcony. It's amazing how certain sounds can bring back all kinds of memories, and for me, those memories were the best!!

Well, I quite agree with you TS - but the thing to remember is this: The Earth isn't going anywhere but we sure as hell will if we don't stop our massive, irresponsible consumption. Barring a comet hitting Earth or waiting say a billion years for the sun to die, we shouldn't be as concerned about the Earth as the Humans on it.

Carlin was right - the Earth only invented us to get plastic!

PS - when I was in 8th grade just after the release of 'Cornerstone', I swear I wrote "I Love Styx" a million times and was going to send to the band. We all do silly things when we're 14 don't we? ;)

If you get to Aberdeen, Scotland come by the history dept at the uni and say hi. I'll take you to the castle where I do my primary research. Cheers...Cheryl

Dear Tommy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to pave the way for others to follow.I am so proud to say that you are not only my favorite musician, but alo my kids fave - ages 15 and 11.
We'll never forget the day you walked into the pizzeria at The Crocodile Rock Cafe in PA last November. My family and I arrived 5 hours early hoping to meet you. There we were armed with pens,cds,cameras...the works. When you and Jack came through that door we all went into zombie mode and all I managed to do was give you a hug and tell you I was a huge fan. I was so stunned I forgot all about getting a picture or autograph.
Although I made a fool of myself you were very sweet and gracious!

Thank you for being such an inspiration to so many people!

Looking forward to more Styx and Shaw-Blades shows!

Tommy,

I caught your "green" black bag last night in Kauai...treasured...especially the message that goes along with it.

I met you at the airport...my husband took our picture (I'm the one who slept with the Grand Illusion album years back). Also treasured. You have kept it real...felt like I was talking to a friend.

Hope to see you at future concerts...possibly Tempe on NY eve. It won't be quite the same as the Kauai private concert...but I'm already going through withdrawal!!

Have fun for the rest of the time you are in Hawaii!

Great to hear you guys are thinking about the future of our planet. I don't know how you're going to make that tour bus work in Hawaii but we've been counting down the days till your Honolulu gig. Love all your projects Tommy, (Girls with Guns is a favorite of my 9 & 11 year old girls) Gotta say it's a huge downer to have Styx back in Hawaii without JY.
That must really mess with your playlist. Less than 36 hours & counting till you hit the stage, can't wait!!!!!

I was a a show in Wis. this summer. Itr was in the middle of nowheresville. I saw the bio fuel delivered to the fair grounds to fill the bus. That had to cost extra. But it was really cool. Ride on!

I was wondering why you dont just use stainless knives ,forks & spoons instead of plastic which eventually gets tossed out. Since you're washing utensils anyway.

Hi Tommy,
Kuddos to all of you for your efforts to clean up our world. I love the efforts you guys are making and have a suggestion. How about selling a STYX water bottle that can be reused at your shows. I know that I, and my friends that attend your shows, would buy one. Also, have you considered using plates and utinsels, since your washing the plasticware anyway. That will also cut down on what is going into the trash/recycle. Keep up your awesome job. Love you guys and look forward to seeing you on the road in Salt Lake City again. Tina

It's too bad we can't start our lives this smart. As you have pointed out we often start off a bit too decedent and carefree but many of us grow into smart responsible people through following smart responsible people like you. Thanks for getting this word out on what you guys are doing to make this a better world to live in.

Peace!

While I believe that 98% of global warming is due to the natural heating and cooling cycles of the planet, I also believe we should be respondsible for how we treat our surroundings and environment. I didn't need another reason to love Styx--but I'm nonetheless glad to have one. Not only do you friggin ROCK, you do it with passion and respsonbility. Live long and prosper.

Tommy Shaw, influential guitarist, singer and writer for the bands Styx, Damn Yankees, and Shaw Blades, is an influential voice among rockers in the green world. He tours green, he lives green. From time to time, Tommy will grace us with a few thoughts on living, and energy independence.
